New Client Information and FAQ's

Welcome to My Psych Clinic and we hope you find all the information you need to explore becoming a new client with us.

Tour our practice

What should I expect when becoming a new client?

Step one

Have a browse of our website to determine whether our approach is the right fit for you. We have information about the different therapy and assessment  options as well as information on our clinical outcomes, fees and cancellation policy.  If you have any questions that cannot be answered on our website, you can chat with our reception team using our live chat function on the bottom left of the screen.

Step two

Ready to proceed? The next step is to give our friendly admin team a call on (07) 3349 5511 or send an email if you don't like talking on the phone.

It's important as a new client to chat with our receptionists first so we understand why you want to be seen and match you with a psychologist that works with your presenting concerns. They may be able to offer you some options over the phone or they may schedule a call with a triage psychologist to talk further with you.

If you prefer to speak with a psychologist about who would be a suitable fit, feel free to contact our admin team and request a triage call.

Step three

Our admin team will give you some options for a psychologist that may work for you and some appointment times that are available. You can read all about our psychologists here. Once you agree on a psychologist and a date for your first appointment, our admin team will take a $50 deposit to secure your appointment. This will be taken off the cost of your first appointment.

It's best to schedule three or four appointments so that you do not miss out as our psychologists fill up quickly and you may not be able to secure your preferred time. You won't need to provide a deposit for each session, just the first one.

You will be emailed a new client consent form, which gives detailed information about our service and your privacy when seeing one of our psychologists. We need you to complete this prior to the appointment to ensure you have an informed understanding of the service. You are very welcome to speak to reception or your psychologist if you have any questions or concerns about consent and confidentiality.

Step four

As you approach your first appointment, our admin team will send through some appointment reminders via text and email and also some information about how to access our building and parking.

We will also send through a survey from NovoPsych called a DASS-10 (if you're aged over 14 years), you can read more about the DASS-10 and why we use it here

Step five

After your first appointment, and if you are happy to proceed, your psychologist will recommend the frequency and duration of your sessions. You can book these in with reception when you leave, or, now that you are a client of ours you can register for online bookings and use our convenient portal to schedule appointments.
