Clinical Supervision

Psychologists are required to access clinical supervision as part of gaining and maintaining their professional registration.

Within clinical supervision, psychologists are able to access a confidential space to reflect on their practice, develop their clinical skills, and discuss ethical and legal considerations within their practice. Clinical supervision also acts to ensure clinicians continue to strive to develop or maintain their clinical competency over time, particularly in response to new or challenging cases and experiences. Continued clinical supervision ensures that clinicians are practicing within their scope and in a way that is safe.

Individuals may seek supervision for a number of reasons including:

  • Understanding and managing complex clinical cases

  • Developing skills in a new area

  • Consulting on professional decision making

  • Caseload management

  • Recognising and responding to ethical and legal considerations

  • Mandated supervision by AHPRA in response to a complaint

My Psych Clinic offers clinical supervision for individuals across their clinical training, including early career (e.g., provisional registration, registrar program), and more experienced psychologists. Our supervisors work from a Feedback Informed Therapy approach and have a range of clinical experience and expertise to support most requests.
