Hi there,
I am a clinical psychologist who aims to create a compassionate, safe space where my clients can feel comfortable to be their authentic selves and feel seen/heard, and share their feedback with me to improve the way I provide support.
I work with clients who are:
-
children from age 5 and above (with their parents/caregivers for young children),
-
adolescents (age 10 to 19),
-
adults and older adults,
-
adolescents and adults with vision impairment, and their parents/caregivers.
I provide therapy to Cantonese and English speaking clients and families. Though I understand Mandarin receptively, I am not fluent in this and unfortunately would have to re-refer cases requiring extensive mandarin speaking input.
Therapy approach
The approach I take is often eclectic/mixed and systemic depending on the client's preferred focus, timeframe, motivation, what's within the scope of the evidence/science and my skills set. This may include motivational interviewing, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, and emotion regulation and distress tolerance skills (I do not offer DBT per se but DBT-informed skills). I provide sessions in-person and via telehealth (dependent on presentation).
Assessment approach
I am familiar with the power of an affirming space, meaningful conversations, and how this can help with the daunting process of an assessment so I hope to facilitate the same for my clients.
I adjust the battery to suit the needs of the client and referral, and provide debriefs focused on the story and functioning of the client, rather than the label or the problem.
Supervision approach
I am feedback-informed and process-driven in my approach to supervision. I have practised across NGOs, multidisciplinary teams, and private practice with extensive experience in working with individuals across the lifespan in both the therapy and assessment space for more than 10 years.
I also provide specific supervision for assessment reports requiring further clinical guidance, co-signing and approval for funding applications. If you would like more information about this, please contact reception and we can get back to you with the supervision agreement form.
