What can you expect from a cognitive assessment?
A cognitive assessment can be a long process!

Your assessment typically includes four to six hours of testing, as well as an interview with the clinician so they can understand your situation and needs. That sounds like a long time, but it can often be completed over multiple sessions to make sure your clinician gets the best performance from you.

As well as the tasks in the face-to-face session, the clinician will typically also send out some questionnaires for you or someone who knows you well to complete. This is often necessary to make a formal diagnosis and the clinician will make sure to get your consent around who you are willing to have contacted.
After the clinician has all of the information they need, they will put together a comprehensive report. The report will cover the relevant information from the assessment, an explanation of your results, and some recommendations based on the results. Because these reports can sometimes be a lot of information to process, My Psych Clinic also offers a feedback session where you can come in and discuss the results with your clinician once the report has been finalised.
